The New Pornographers Announce Australian Sideshows
From Oceans Never Listen, Posted June, 27th 2008
The New Pornographers, that grand Canadian purveyor of all things good, have announced their Australian sideshows. They were recently made part of the first Great Escape lineup announcement and after that appearance they will playing 5 more dates around Australia. The band made their maiden voyage to Australia in December, 2006 and I saw their excellent show at the Gaelic Club. This time I plan to see them in a similar sized venue, the Annandale Hotel. Hopefully Neko Case...
Welcome to Summer Fridays
From Sound Bites, Posted June, 27th 2008
One of the better things about working for a Big Company is Summer Fridays. Nothing like leaving the office around lunchtime and knowing don't have to come back till Monday. The idea being you need a head start on traffic......
The Music of Chance; or Single of the Week That Was
From Sound Bites, Posted June, 27th 2008
When Field Music announced a year ago that they were going on indefinite hiatus, I was sad, but it's turned out to be a blessing in disguise for fans as all it's really meant is that the Brewis Brothers can......

The heatwave has blessedly relented, but that is no reason for the music to cool down. Here are more hot-weather tunes for your weekend.

Basically, what we're gonna do is listen to this song about 20 times today
From DISCONAP, Posted June, 27th 2008
Arewefuckingrite?
That was the new Vanessa Hudgens video for her brilliantly titled song "Sneakernight". We've been happily ignorant of the whole High School Musical phenomenon, and after listening to this song we're all like, maybe we were kind of wrong? We dunno, but if all Vanessa's other songs sound anything like "Sneakernight" (probability: 1,000,000:1) we're about to get into her back catalog like whoa (we haven't said "like whoa" since 2003, could someone please bring that back? Do we have to...

Radiohead @ Victoria Park, 25 June 2008
From The Daily Growl, Posted June, 27th 2008
It?s been an issue at Radiohead gigs since the start of the decade, but I wondered again on Wednesday night how many people in the 20,000-strong crowd in Victoria Park last night really just wanted stadium singalongs. If they did, they got a chunk of these in a crowd-pleasing first encore, but generally it wasn?t a sing-along type of gig. Radiohead gigs never are now? after all, there have been four albums since OK Computer, none of them populated with...
