Lost & Found
From Headphone Sex, Posted June, 18th 2008
The upcoming Black Ghosts album seems to be creating a bit of a buzz, which is no great surprise after the quality of the singles that have been slipping out over the last year or so. Part of their success has been down to their impeccable choice of remixer, but Diplo's a no-brainer & guaranteed to serve up a tasty spread.

Monday night: Coldplay at Brixton Academy
From I am Fuel, You are Friends, Posted June, 18th 2008
On Monday night, the eve of the North American release date for their new album, Coldplay performed a free concert at Brixton Academy in London which was broadcast on Radio 1. They performed seven of their new songs off Viva La Vida (whilst getting good art into the collective public consciousness). Many of the new songs seem to possess a sweet air to them, unvarnished but still epic in this setting. Have a listen:COLDPLAYLive at Brixton Academy 6/16/08IntroLife in TechnicolourViolet...
New Old 97's video - "Dance With Me"
From Cable and Tweed, Posted June, 18th 2008
Have you ever dipped french fries in a milkshake, and been surprised that the combination both (1) happened at all and (2) was awesome? The new Old 97's video for "Dance With Me" is along those lines. Not only does it feature music by a band I like (man, did I wear out my copy of Fight Songs) but it also stars Number Six Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica totally flaunting her association with that franchise. Be...
Coldplay - "Viva La Vida, Or Death & All His Friends" Analysis
From Its Hard to Find a Friend, Posted June, 18th 2008
If Brian Eno does not win a Grammy for the production of Viva La Vida Or Death & All His Friends, something is wrong with the world. Coldplay was in serious danger of becoming irrelevant after X&Y's uninspired noodling and U2 homage overdrive. I can say, however, with full confidence, that this is the best record I have heard all year long.I waited to hear Viva La Vida until yesterday, it's U.S. release date. There are very few "big" releases...
Wildbirds & Peacedrums
From The Daily Growl, Posted June, 18th 2008
Here?s something for folks who like their music a bit stripped down and raw. Regular readers of this blog will know that I often like my music unencumbered by unnecessary embellishments, but Wildbirds and Peacedrums take this ethic to (almost) its natural conclusion. Their template is simple: voice and drums. That?s it. But what a voice. Its owner is Mariam Wallentin, graduate of Gothenburg?s Academy of Music and Drama, and she?s got an amazing range ? she can do everything...
